Discover the Beauty of Lake Lure Flowering Bridge

What You’ll See
Gorgeous Greenery

As you take your first steps on the quaint cobblestone path, you may not be able to tell you’re suspended above North Carolina’s Lake Lure. You’re instantly surrounded by a thick herb garden filled with basil, oregano, rosemary, and dill, that radiates a fresh scent as you inhale the crisp air. However, as you pass by, you’re greeted with a grand view of the rushing water below, reminding you that you’re only at the beginning of the large, 155-foot arch span. You’ll quickly discover the awe of this lovely attraction!

Continuing down the path, meander your way through 14 more gardens filled with over 700-species of plants including roses, tropical flowers, succulents, and everything in between. The garden has thrived for years, showcasing the mature, flourishing plants that make the historic bridge so special. You’ll also come across three more lookout points that not only feature different views of the rushing river below, but the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains off in the distance. Take a look at the bridge map to learn about each display and the best stops to take while crossing over.

A Stunning Mural

Along the way, a colorful mural may catch your eye. Upon looking closer, you’ll find that this is no ordinary wall, but five, repurposed doors used as the canvas for the display. The mural depicts a scene of the iconic Blue Ridge Mountains at sunset from one of the looking points on the historic bridge. North Carolina’s very own local artists, Veryle Lynn Cox and Amy Wald, designed the outline of the painting, and later, a “painting party” was held where volunteers filled it in with color!
