Notable Sites
Pinnacle Mountain

Find great hiking on Pinnacle Mountain, which is the tallest mountain in South Carolina. The 4.2-mile Pinnacle Mountain Trail, as well as the Foothills Trail, will take you directly to its peak for a breathtaking, sweeping view of the green tops of thousands of trees surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Make sure you fuel up with an energizing meal beforehand, because this is one of the most strenuous hiking trails within the park.

Pinnacle Lake

Pinnacle Lake is located at the very base of Table Rock Mountain, which gives you a gorgeous look at the peak’s exposed rock face. The lake itself is extremely peaceful; it’s encased by the trees, and the still, pristine waters offer a reflection of their tall trunks as well as the mountain off in the distance. Feel free to take a relaxing swim, or consider renting a canoe to explore more of the 36-acre lake.

Table Rock Mountain

Take the 3.6-mile, one way Table Rock Trail for another rugged yet rewarding hike. You begin at the Nature Center, and as you make your way, you’ll ascend 2,000-feet! Upon reaching the top of Table Rock, you’re greeted by a smooth, granite dome where you can take in the view of Pinnacle Lake and the seemingly endless lush, thriving greenery below.

Carrick Creek Falls

If you’re searching for hiking trails with waterfall views, you need to travel down Carrick Creek Trail. This is a very moderate, 2-mile loop that offers lovely views throughout. One of the most beautiful waterfalls you’ll see on this hike is Carrick Creek Falls. Here, a light stream cascades over smooth, layered rocks into a clear, shallow pool. Take a break here to admire its beauty, or continue through the oak forest to the observation deck for a beautiful look across the park.
